ROK Moisture meter 

 

            The moisture meters vary for different mateiral.  Constructor need them to measure the concrete, and printer need them to meausre the mositure percentage of paper.  It a very important  instrument used in many industries to detect moisture content in materials, While woodworker like to use them to test the moisture in the wood.  ROK International Industry Co. Limited offer all kinds of testers for home uses and professional users. Indicator scales on moisture meters can vary in appearance, but all will indicate moisture content in percent (%MC). While some moisture meters offer an analog scale, others read %MC digitally. The accuracy of the %MC readings, as well as the appropriate substrate scales, vary per meter and can vary by brand and type.

 

           Moisture meter have different sensors to measure different mateirals.  For example. pin type, pinless type,  A pin-type uses two pins or one pin that penetrate into the wood, hay, grain at the users desired depth and depending on which moisture meter you purchase. Pin-type meters are the only instruments that indicate the moisture conditions inside a board or a piece of wood. Using insulated pins, only the uncoated tips are exposed to the wood fiber, providing more accurate readings of moisture content at various levels of penetration. Using a pin type meter with insulated pins is still the most effective method to determine moisture gradient, which is the difference between shell and core moisture content, Pinless moisture meters read moisture closest to the source of the magnetic field, in this case, at the surface. For quickly scanning finished product, a pinless meter is a convenient way to identify a problem area. However, a pinless meter cannot differentiate between shell and core moisture content and will not detect a moisture gradient. Also, readings provided by pinless meters are affected by surface moisture, For typical woodworking operations, two basic types of moisture meter are available.[5] One type measures the electrical resistance of the wood fibers, which becomes increasingly lower as the moisture content of the wood rises. With the electrical resistance type of moisture meter, two electrodes are driven into the wood fibers and the electrical resistance is translated into moisture content on the device’s electronic or dial output. A second type of moisture meter relies on the dielectric properties of wood, and requires only surface contact with the wood.
